The First Blog!

Hello Humbug fans! I assume you've found my website and this blog (what the heck is a 'blog', by the way?) because you've read my book... If that's the case then I thank you! Writing about Humbug and his horsey pals has been the best fun! Hopefully Humbug will continue Humbugging and there'll be a second book (Spoiler alert: I'm currently around 12,000 words deep!) but until I can wave a completed manuscript under the noses of the lovely publishing people I'll try to entertain you by writing about his daily exploits on here.

Humbug at the time of starting this is around 27 years old, so he really should be drawing his pension. He's been quite creaky recently, and the cause of the creaks has been a bit of a puzzle. However, my daughter Katie (Humbug's most favorite person in the world) has done a bit of research and we feel that the change of address around 6 weeks ago has resulted in better grass being enjoyed. This has maybe caused havoc with his insulin levels, causing a spike in blood/sugar (still with me?) so we've adjusted the supplements he's been taking. Suddenly, there's less creaks, and there was actually a spring in his step as he dragged me to the field this morning! Fingers crossed we've found a solution to the aches and pains, and he'll continue to enjoy mooching around the field with Toby.

The new place is surrounded by some beautiful scenery (totally wasted on Humbug, who rarely lifts his head from eating) but is on the very edge of a windswept moor, stunning in summer but I'm sure winter will be bleak! We've enjoyed some very welcome sunny days since we moved here, but there's been the odd rainy day which has made me consider new rainsheets for Humbug and Toby. However, trying to find ones to fit is proving tricky; Toby is tiny and Humbug is oddly shaped... Watch this space!

Until next time!
